EMC 2024 Oral Presentation Guidelines:

  • The duration of a contributed presentation slot is 15 minutes. You will have 12 minutes for the presentation itself and 3 minutes for questions from the audience.
  • A projector & computer will be available in the session room for regular presentations. Please bring your presentation on a USB drive as you may not unplug the presentation laptop to plug in your own. The presentation laptop provided must be used.
  • The screen size is 16:9.

Preparation of Visuals

  • PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST BRING A MEMORY STICK CONTAINING YOUR PRESENTATION FILE.
  • Files can be uploaded to the local PCs in the lecture rooms during the coffee breaks or at lunch.
  • To avoid software compatibility problems (MS Powerpoint), speakers are advised to EMBED ALL FONTS in your Powerpoint file AND bring a backup PDF-version of your presentation.
  • Speakers should arrive in their session room 15 minutes BEFORE the start of your session.
  • All authors should check-in with the session chair prior to the start of the session.

General Considerations

  • Limit the number of words per visual to no more than 20.
  • Leave space, at least the height of a capital letter, between lines of text.
  • All fonts, including that on graphs, should be 18 point or larger.
  • Graphs and charts should have bold lines and symbols that contrast sharply with the background.

Poster Presentation Instructions

  • Poster boards are aligned in a horizontal format. Each poster should be no larger than 4ft x 4ft. Each poster board will be double-sided with two posters each side. The poster boards will have push pins available to you to use.
  • All poster presenters are responsible for printing and bringing their own poster to hang. There are no large printers at the conference.

The following information may assist you in preparing an informative and professional poster display.

  • Print TITLE and AUTHORS in extra-large characters (over 1.25” high) across the top of your display.
  • Display your material in large print so it may be read from a distance. It is important to use text and graphics larger and bolder than those of your manuscript!  Be clear and succinct.
  • Each presentation will be assigned a board and will be labeled with the paper ID and the paper title. If you do not see your poster ID and title, please come to the registration desk so that we can find the proper spot. Do not hang your poster in someone else's spot. The poster boards will be in numerical order.
